Sami Khedira is a Tunisian-German soccer/football player. He is under contract at Real Madrid since 2010 and plays and for the German national soccer team since 2009.
Nearly one and a half months after the European Cup Khedira can still not fully cope with the defeat against Italy. In addition to that the harsh criticism that followed was sometimes far too unfair and inappropriate.
"After the game we were heavily criticized about stuff that had nothing to do with the sport. That was insulting," said the 25-year-old before the game against Argentina. In addition to some other players, Khedira was accused of not singing the German anthem.
"It`s just a good sign when you sing the national anthem. But it doesn`t make you a good German. A good German is one, that knows how to speak the language well and lives the values. And that`s when we all do," added Khedria.
I, as a German person, actually have to admit that I would like to have somebody playing for my country that is actually proud of being German himself. i think the soccer players represent the country in a way and i do not want to be represented by somebody who can`t even sing our national anthem or worse: chooses not to!
what do you think about that? I think they SHOULD WANT to sing it! and if they can`t, they shouldn`t be allowed to play..
