Now one thing about me is, I LOVE coffee! Love it, love it, love it! I frequent a number of different coffee shops (both large chain and mom & pop) and also brew my own coffee at home in either my Keurig machine or in my Mr. Coffee 12-cup brewer.
On the way home I told my boyfriend I wanted iced coffee, but instead of driving the other way to the coffee shop I decided to go home and make one. Then we started talking about maybe having ice cream instead and I got a fabulous idea. Why not make a frappucino at home? I mentioned a mocha frappucino and that was the nail in the coffin. Then I remembered we had caramel but well save the caramel for either ice cream or a caramel frappucino tomorrow.
My drink tastes really good and very similar to what they make at Starbucks. The only thing missing was the whipped cream and I wasnt going to go buy some just for a drink.
Want to make this at home yourself? Heres what youll need:
* 1-2 shots of espresso OR ¾ cup of room temperature or cold coffee (you can use strong brewed or regular, your choice
* ¾ cup milk (I used skim, but you can use whole or soy or whichever you prefer)
* 8-10 ice cubes
* Sugar/Splenda/Liquid sugar flavoring (regular or sugar free)
* Chocolate or Caramel sauce
* Whip cream (optional)
Now you have to put your ice in a blender, along with your coffee or espresso and your measured milk. If you want it sweeter, add in whatever sugar flavoring you prefer I used 2 Splenda packages and mixed it with the coffee. I added a tablespoon of chocolate syrup with my coffee/milk mixture. I blended the mixture until blended and all ice chunks were gone. I drizzled a tablespoon of chocolate syrup down the side of my glass and poured my drink in.
You will need a straw to drink this because the top gets rather frothy, but as it melts and as you continue to stir it, its easier to drink and the frothiness subsides. But its VERY tasty and its a hell of a lot cheaper to make (I made one for me one for my boyfriend) than any Starbucks drink Ive purchased!

Have you ever thought of making your own version of that drink at home?
