My boyfriend and I went out for a celebratory dinner where we had Japanese food at a local restaurant which provides Teppanyaki. Its one of our favorite treats every now and again because lets face it, even though the process itself is entertaining and a nice time out, it does get pricy. Typically when we go for teppanyaki I purchase http://Restaurant.com gift cards because we can cut our price in less than half. At the beginning of the year, I had purchased 2 http://Restaurant.com gift card for $2 which provided a $25 value. Thanks to the gift card we were able to cut out bill in half, spending only $24 including gratuity! The only stipulation associated with them was that we order two dinner hibachi/teppanyaki meals and gratuity (at 18%) be incorporated into our bill prior to providing it to us. I ordered the hibachi chicken and my boyfriend ordered the hibachi sirloin we both requested fried rice instead of white rice which is what the meal originally comes with.
Our meals came with the following:
- Clear Soup with scallion and mushroom
- Salad w/ Peanut Dressing
- Vegetable Fried Rice
- Mixed Vegetables
- Japanese style noodles
- 3 Hibachi shrimp
- Meat of choice
The salad is always my favorite part of the meal because the dressing is the absolute best. The noodles I wasnt crazy over, the shrimp was fresh and I ate one but Im not much of a shrimp fan. But overall our meals were very good, crazy filling (I swear I didnt even touch my meal I brought the entire plate of teppanyaki food home) and the entertainment was spectacular. Our chef was rather comical and had apparently fallen in love with one of the girls at the table across from ours (they were there before we arrived) and from what I gather he kept hitting on her and she kept playing into it LOL.
By the way the one photo with the fire is what the chef refers to as volcano he layers it with oil and something that aids in igniting a flame. And the other picture with the rice? Well, it was the chefs shot at breast LOL.
Have you ever eaten at a Japanese steakhouse? If so, whats your favorite thing to order?
