Sephora Birthday Haul
With my birthday this past weekend, I had decided to order from items from Sephora as a treat to myself! I actually have a Sephora gift card from my last birthday (!!!) that I never used, so I was hoping to use that but it looks like the Canadian Sephora site doesn`t accept gift cards :S. Either way, I still had a bunch of items I wanted to order so I made my purchase anyways.
There have been a few items Ive been lusting after so I decided to finally make the purchase!
First up, is the Urban Decay Shadow Box Palette. This set is relatively inexpensive since it has been on sale for 12 dollars for a while now. It comes with 9 shadows and a mini UD Primer Potion. Ive been hearing good things, and figured at 12 dollars, you cant really go wrong!
Next, I grabbed 2 different sets from Tarte. Ive never tried Tarte products before, but Ive heard so many things about their Amazonian clay blushes and bronzers Ive been dying to try them out!
I picked up a 12 dollar Golden Opportunity bronzer set that had a mini bronzer in Park Avenue Princess (which is supposed to be a matte universal shade) and a bronzing body lotion of some sort. Unfortunately, what I didnt realize when I ordered the set is that Park Avenue Princess is normally a shimmery bronzer, but is also available in matte. Im not really a fan of a lot of shimmer on my face, since I think matte looks much more natural. I was planning on giving the bronzing lotion to my sister or someone anyways, so it looks like this may go back for a refund.
I did also choose another Tarte set called Thoughtful Treasures which features some of their best sellers. There are 3 pieces in this set: an Amazonian clay blush, and mini pure marajuca oil and a mini lip tint. I was much more impressed with these products. I will post a review of the set when I have more of a chance to really try them out!
Next, I was looking at a few of the Sephora eye shadow duos and trios. Ive heard good things about a lot of these Sephora shadows, and they had quite a few available online that were on sale. The duos were 7 bucks each and the trio was 9 dollars.
There is also one other item Ive been hoping to try but have been unable to find online and in store which is the Lorac 3D lustre. They comes in gold and silver, and Ive been looking for the silver for quite a while. Unfortunately, its been out of stock every time I check so I decided to look for an alternative. I ended up finding this Sephora Luminzer that looked promising. Unfortunately, when I actually got it, it applied a lot different than what I expected. In the tube it looks like a shimmery gold colour, but once it is swatched, it is actually just a thick, chunky glitter. Not what I wanted at all, so it looks like this will probably be going back as well.
The rest of my items were actually free with my order. Of course I picked up my free birthday gift that features the benefit mascara and hi-liter everyone always raves about. I havent tried them, but Im curious to try them out.
Also, because my order was over 25 dollars, I was able to get a Bare Minerals set with a concealer and tester powder for free as well. And of course, I got my 3 samples that come with every Sephora order. I got a mascara sample from Make-Up Forever and 2 perfume samples as well. I also chose to have the items shipped as a gift (even though it was a gift to myself)and was able to get a small drawstring bag for free!
What do you guys think of my haul? I know all the items didnt work out for me, but Im still pretty happy with everything. And luckily, Sephora has a great return policy, so Im going to go return the items I dont want. :)
