A few days ago, my boyfriend who just graduated from grad school was offered an incredible job after going through quite a series of interviews against people brought in from all over the country. So it was definitely something to celebrate when he received the news!! Unfortunately, we live about 1200 miles away from each other, so I wasn`t able to celebrate with him in person. So I decided to send him a surprise `celebratory gift package` :)
Now, under normal circumstances, celebrating such a fabulous job offer would normally mean throwing a killer party in which I probably bake a cake or cookies and then we`d do drinks and whatnot. So I took that concept and turned it into a gift. I ended up sending:
-His favorite liquor
-Party confetti poppers
Now allow me to preface this by saying that you are not legally allowed to send alcohol via USPS. So I had to be careful with that ;)
I picked up a medium priority box at the post office and knew that I wanted to decorate the inside of it so it looked like a present when he opened it. I taped colorful construction paper to the flaps and put star stickers on them (which I had a bunch of on hand). I lined the box with colorful striped tissue paper and put filling in the box so the gifts wouldn`t shift around. (See the second picture!)
For the liquor, I bought the mini bottles of some of his favorite bourbons (see the third picture!) I then wrapped them in tissue paper so they wouldn`t break during shipping, and put them in a small blue giftbag that was also lined with tissue paper (see the fourth picture!)
For the cookies, I baked some chocolate chip cookies from scratch, let them cool, then put a bunch in a plastic zip bag and then wrapped it with tissue paper.
For the confetti poppers, I also wrapped a bunch of them together in the tissue paper with a little note saying to use them to make up for the fact that, if i were with him in person, I would undoubtedly be as loud as the poppers from excitement and happiness :) lol.
I also included a personalized note on stationary paper that I placed on top of everything.
I then brought the box to the post office had it over-nighted (which was actually cheaper to do in a priority box rather than the expedited/overnight flat rate box!). It arrived to him the next day and he sent me a picture of it! He was so excited! I`m just glad it arrived okay and he enjoyed it :)
