FOOTWEAR label Kerrie Luft has been snapped up by Selfridges - the emerging brand`s first ever stockist. The designer`s relationship with the store began after its buying director Sebastian Manes was part of a panel that named British-born Luft as the winner of the 2011 Fashion Fringe accessories platform.
"I am extremely excited to see my shoes displayed in the Shoe Galleries at Selfridges next week," said Luft. "Sebastian and his team at Selfridges have been really supportive, offering advice and direction in the building of my first range."
Since winning the award, Luft completed a six-month design internship at Roger Vivier`s Paris office and is now set on launching her own label. Her collections are marked by their inventive art nouveau-inspired heels, which are created using pioneering computerised technology. The result? Shoes that are feminine and elegant, yet original and contemporary.
Luft will present her latest collection during Paris Fashion Week at the grand Hotel du Crillon, but has not forgotten the ways in which Fashion Fringe helped boost her career.
"The Fashion Fringe platform has been a huge support, exposing me to invaluable mentoring both at Roger Viver and from the diverse selection of people from the industry that I was introduced to," Luft explained. "I am extremely grateful for all their support and encouragement, as they have allowed me to further my knowledge on how to deal with lots of the different areas involved in launching my own luxury footwear line."
