While we wait for news on the seventh season of `Dexter`, which will certainly arise in the next edition of Comic Con, taking place in San Diego 12-15 July, the executive producer Sara Colleton has advanced some details about what we can expect this season.
Colleton spoke to TV Guide, which stated that the eighth season will be the last.
This is final. We wanted to end this year but the season has convinced us to do so in two years. In a way this will be a final in two seasons. We hit it and we know where it will end. Next year will definitely be the last of `Dexter`.
Colleton also talked a bit about what we can expect the relationship between Dexter and his sister Debra, after the shocking ending of the sixth season (contains spoilers).
Of course this season will explore the relationship between the maximum and Debra Dexter, after the revelation of last season. She was on the way to reveal the church to his brother who was in love with him. Now what will she do? Dexter will report to the police? Can she still love him? Can she feel relieved to see some of the aspects in the life of Dexter that even questioned whether there would be time for her?
But she is the Chief of Homicide, and this will affect your sense of justice, as well as the entire system. It is indeed very challenging for one year Debra. The world of Dexter, of course, is also quite shaken. He never had to deal with this kind of emotions - regret, guilt, disappointment, and feel that at any moment your sister can hold.
The seventh and penultimate, season of `Dexter` to debut September 30 in the United States.
