A short while ago, I received some items from Sappho Cosmetics, including three liquid foundations. To see my haul of other items I got, and overall impressions, please visit that post.
As always, I have to start off with packaging, which I think is super cute. One of the things that stands out for this line is that each one has a real name like Lisa, Kate, and Generous Jennifer. So unique.
All three bottles are 30mL, which is a TON of product. I have to say, though, that I dislike how these bottles lack a pump. In general, I would definitely prefer a pump for ANY kind of liquid foundation just because it`s easier to distribute, and you can control the amount of product much better. For these, I have to stick my finger in there, which I`m not a fan of at all. I don`t like pouring it out on the back of my hand because it gets messy, it becomes too much, and I hate wasting product.
Here are the swatches (left to right): Lisa, Kate, and Generous Jennifer
I found all three of these foundations to be of the same consistency, which is pretty smooth and silky. All three blend easily, look natural, wear well, last long, and just melt into the skin, which I love. Out of the three, however, I found Kate to be much more hydrating and smooth against my skin.
Obviously, they`re three different shades. Now, because I have very fair skin, I was liking Kate much better, and was afraid the other two would be too dark for me, but on the contrary...
The last picture is of all three swatches from the previous picture BLENDED into my skin. If you didn`t see the other picture, you wouldn`t be able to realize that there`s three different shades here. You probably wouldn`t even be able to tell there`s foundation there at all. I was very pleasantly surprised. None of them cake or feel heavy either, which is always a plus. Having super dry skin, this is always my number one concern, but I feel like when I wore these foundations (at different times and days, of course), it let my skin breathe, and it didn`t flake or cake on me throughout the day. It looked natural, it felt natural, and that`s why I love it.
Overall, here are my pros and cons:
-Doesn`t feel cakey or heavy
-Lasts all day
-Have a nice, thin consistency
-All three shades match my fair skin
-Gives a nice glow
-Doesn`t have a pump
-Way too expensive ($48 each)
I think these foundations are phenomenal, and I was pleasantly surprised, but I think the
price alone is enough to deter me from purchasing them in the future.
What are YOUR thoughts?
