I am not a museum person whatsoever but every third Tuesday, the San Diego Museum of Man is free admission for San Diego residents so my boyfriend and I took adventure of that because we have never visited this museum before. Regularly the admission is $12.50 for 18 years and older or $8 with student ID so we`re saving well over $16 for going today and it wasn`t even that crowed.
Overall: I wouldn`t go here if it wasn`t free admission. I did learn some cool new facts. My favorite of all was on the second floor when you`re transitioning from room to room. There was a room painted entirely royal blue with circles on the wall indicating when things were first introduced to the world. [I thought that was pretty cool.]
1955 Contraceptive Pill
1969 Video Recorder
1972 - Compact Disc, CAT Scan
1985 - CD Rom
1992 World Wide Web
Ancient Egypt - You get to encounter coffin masks, figurines, mummified stuff.. it`s pretty interesting. There was a real WOMB MOTHER that is basically decayed still preserving cause you can see the temperature in the wall.. Freaky =X
Children`s Discovery Center - A place for kids to play.. though the room is filled with germs and it stinks =(
Footsteps through Time - You get to see monkeys, gorillas and so forth that was ruling the land before humans!
Kumeyaay: Native Americans [My boyfriend and I skipped this one on accident]
Maya: Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth - Get an idea of ancient Maya.
Adventures in Photography: Images in Archaeology and Anthropology until January 13, 2013-- this exhibit didn`t allow any photography so I couldn`t snap any photos. It was basically a small exhibit filled with photos of people who lived before us. There was a cool section showing cameras from back in the days til` the late 90`s which was cool.
Ramp It Up: Skateboard Culture in Native America [Coming soon, April 28, 2012 to September 9, 2012]
