On our first trip to Hawaii me and the man really wanted to eat at Roy`s because it was rated really well on trip advisor and when you`re not in a city you`re familiar with trip advisor is your best bet for finding good eats, but unfortunately Roy`s is super busy and popular so on our first trip we were never able to get reservations :(. So on our second trip we made sure to make reservations in advance to eat here. We started out with some drinks, I had a guava flavoured cocktail and the man had a pineapple martini as shown in picture 3. Then we got some steamed edamame with chili oil to start along with a sushi roll called the Hawaiian sushi sampler which has tuna, salmon, and spicy tuna as shown in picture 2. For our main course we got the Hawaiian style misoyaki butterfish. The entree was recommended by our server so we figured why not. This was a smaller portion they served for lunch which was half the price as the one they normally serve for dinner as we wanted to save room for dessert and this size is available for dinner as well. For dessert we had the melting hot chocolate soufflé and this pineapple thing I can`t remember what it`s called but it tasted like the pineapple version of apple pie lol. The thing about the desserts which was really odd to me was that we had to order it 45 minutes in advance. I was wondering why since most places desserts come from a factory and they are tossed into the oven minutes after a customer orders, so we ordered our desserts when we ordered our appetizers and entrees not even knowing if we`d have room for them lol. But from the delicious flavours from the food and drink I can see why they got such a great rating. I`d eat there again if I got the chance even in California when I visit later next year. It is kind of a fine dining place so you may want to dress a little nicer than you normally do going to restaurants so no flip flops lol.
Have you been to Roy`s restaurant?
Would you rather have the pineapple dessert or the melting hot chocolate soufflé?
