One of the restaurants I recently tried in beautiful Toronto was Richmond Station. It`s a new restaurant settled on Yonge and Richmond (if you know the area, it`s near Eaton`s Centre downtown) and for more information, you can visit their link in the source link below. That should give you a good idea of where they`re located and their daily menu.
Now on the actual review...
The restaurant is two levels - side split restaurant with one view at the front (and bar) and the other side in the back (with a view of the open kitchen!). It has a very elegant, clean but casual setting. I won`t lie, it`s not fine dining but the prices definitely make you feel like you`re paying for fine dining. But before that... the food!
I`ve included photos of all my favorites and the "must-try" items from other bloggers. There are polenta fries, beef tartare, stn. burger, wild boar ragu and their daily dessert: cranberry bread pudding.. My favorite hands down was THE DESSERT! It was probably the best bread pudding I`ve had in a while, beautiful texture and flavors and I love fruity desserts =)
Everything else though was great in it`s own way. Everything tasted beautifully, nothing awful. At worst, it was average - but average is better than being disgusting. So for all the foodies out there - everything is definitely worth a try! One good (or bad) thing is that the menu is limited so there`s always a daily specials (on the chalkboard) and their regular items.
Now on to the prices. I won`t lie, it is more expensive than you would expect. From the items in the photo, everything ranged from $8 (the fries) to $24 (for the ragu). A full set meal, would cost around $50. To be honest, I would probably be turned off to go again just from the price alone - even though the food is amazing, it is not irreplaceable at a cheaper cost. So although it is a good experience - it is not THE BEST or worth the value.
For those that around wondering, it is also opened by Canada`s Top Chef - Carl Heinrich. He opened it with another business partner and it`s been pretty successful since. Lots of online press and I`m sure a lot of other reviews can be found online.
Final verdict: Great atmosphere, delicious food but nothing unique about the menu offerings. Worth a try, but for the price, it won`t be a regular hit for me.
