Hey everyone :)
I`ve been hearing a lot about these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and I was super excited when I found them at my local Target~ As a lot of you may have heard, they`re supposed to be comparable to the Clinique Chubby Sticks and the Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Stains both in packaging and performance. I haven`t tried either one of those, so I can`t say how they compare/contrast, but I will give my honest opinion & review on these Revlon ones :D
I got 3 different colors: the orange-colored one is called Rendezvous, the bright hot pink is commonly called Sweetheart (but it also says Valentine on the packaging), and the mauve-toned one is called Honey.
Rendezvous: a very Spring/Summer appropriate bright coral-orange.
Sweetheart: a bright hot pink.
Honey: a natural looking taupe-toned mauve; great everyday lip color.
Rendezvous: as you can see from the swatches in the 3rd picture, this one is a bit more sheer than the other two. Still, you can easily build up the pigmentation to give your lips a very bright coral-orange pop of color. Even on my pigmented lips, it shows up really well. I personally like to apply a sheer layer for a nice, natural coral hint of color.
Sweetheart: this one is super pigmented! I have to be careful not to apply too much, or my lips will look almost neon pink :P With sheer application, it gives the lips a really pretty bright pop of pink.
Honey: this one is right in between the other two in opacity. Because it in itself is a very natural color, it never makes my lips too `made-up` looking.
____Texture & Finish :
All 3 of these have a thicker balm consistency. They`re definitely not as creamy as a lipstick, but not too waxy either. They give a slight shine to the lips that`s natural looking. They also have a subtle mint scent to them.
____Performance & Duration :
Because they`re formulated to be a balm stain, they`re definitely more moisturizing than other stains that I`ve tried, but they`re definitely not as moisturizing as a typical lip balm would be. However, I do notice that although they`re not super moisturizing, they do not try out my lips either. The shine that appears after application goes away within maybe an hour or two, but the color does stain the lips and lasts for, I would say, around 6-8 hours :) After it stains your lips and the shine disappears, the color does not transfer to cups or whatever else your lips might come in contact with :) Of course, towards the end of the day the color does fade just a little, but I think they hold up pretty well! Also, if you want to reapply this product, it doesn`t feel heavy, and it actually helps the color to last even longer. If they were just a little bit more moisturizing, they`d be perfect!
I love that these are retractable crayon-like products so you don`t need to sharpen them. The packaging also corresponds with the color of the product you`ll be getting. The plastic packaging doesn`t feel cheap, and I love the silver bottom that they incorporated as the twistable portion to retract the balm. I love carrying these around in my purse because they`re convenient and cute :D
I purchased mine at Target for I believe $7.69 each. Despite how much I love these, I didn`t exactly want to go out and get every shade because they`re not exactly cheap. Although $7-8 doesn`t seem like a lot, it definitely does add up quickly! I`d definitely recommend waiting for a BOGO deal at one of the drugstores to pick some up if you plan on getting more than 2 or 3. On the other hand, they are a lot cheaper than the Clinique Chubby Sticks ($16 each) & the Tarte LipSurgence Stains ($24 each), so I`d purchase these over both of those any day :D
That is it for this review! I hope it was informative and helpful for you :) As you can probably tell, I am really enjoying these balm stains! Revlon is definitely one of my favorite drugstore brands, if not my favorite :D They`re doing such a great job putting out products that everyone just goes crazy for! I highly recommend these & hope you check them out and enjoy them as well ^^
