Revlon Colorsilk Luminista in Medium Blonde Review

Recently I ordered Revlon`s Colorsilk Luminista hair dye in 175 Medium Blonde off of Walmart`s website. It was only $3.97 and the shipping was free. When it arrived at my house, I was also given some samples which I will have another post on later.

My hair has a lot of experience when it comes to hair dye and highlighting. I also had it chemically straightened before so I pretty much know what to expect. The reason why I chose such a light color like medium blonde was because with my past experience with hair dyes, my hair will not get lighter unless I choose a blonde shade. My hair will never go anywhere close to blonde but it lightens it for me to the color that I desire. So for me to achieve a certain color, I would have to go multiple shades lighter to get the look.

Here is a little description about the hair dye itself that is on the box.

Revlon ColorSilk Luminista saturates dark hair with vibrant, shimmering color while subduing unwanted brassiness.

- The 411 on my hair: I have somewhat thick naturally wavy/curly hair. I do not have virgin hair for I dyed it before. Before I used this dye though, I dyed it before in a light medium brown color because my natural color is a medium brown but I wanted to enhance it and brighten it a tad bit.

I used this dye on my one day old unwashed hair and I left the dye in my hair for an hour. The instructions does not tell you to leave it in for that long but I wanted better results so I did it for an hour.

After I washed the dye out, my hair was really thick and dry due to the chemicals. So I used the whole packet of conditioner that was provided on my hair to bring some life back into it. When my hair was dried, then I was able to see the color and I was very satisfied with the color results. This was the exact color that I wanted. I took the pictures with my camera phone so the color payoff isn`t that great but trust me, in person it is brighter and more vibrant. Now my hair is a mixture of light brown, dirty blonde, and some light blonde here and there. I definitely love it.

Overall, I love this dye because out of all of the drugstore dyes that I have used, only Revlon hair dyes work on my hair if I wanted to lighten my hair so I love it. I must say though, that this dye does leave your hair pretty dry. So if you choose to use this hair dye, I do suggest leaving your hair unwashed for a day or two so your hair can be protected from the harsh chemicals and afterwards just condition your hair a lot and take good care of it to nurse it back a little. I do use Revlon a lot and my experience with it is fine so your hair will turn back to normal in no time.

So will I purchase this again? Most definitely! I plan to get two more boxes in a month so I can dye my hair and touch up on my roots and whatnot in a few months.
