REVIEW: Studio Gear Holiday Smokey Eye Palette

Today I have a review on the StudioGear Holiday Smokey Eye Palette, currently $40* (10% off your purchase with CODE: SGHOLIDAY) on, which includes four eyeshadows and a blush shade. Now, this palette isn`t exactly up my alley - personally, I prefer rich, pigmented shades - BUT if you are an everyday woman who doesn`t wear a ton of colors and sultry makeup on the regular, you`ll enjoy this smokey yet subtle palette. The shades are on the sheer side but can definitely be built up for more intensity, the blush however is quite pigmented.

I must point out that the graphic on the palette labels the shadow names incorrectly, so I`ve edited my photos to show each color`s shade name.

Frost is a sheer white shimmer, tends to apply flaky and dusty so a pressing application is suggested. Platinum is a light grey satin, the most pigmented of the four shadows. Coal is a sheer charcoal black with sparse silver glitters. Glimmer is a very sheer golden shimmer, this is practically invisible, but you still get that golden shimmer so you can easily use this as a highlight or a shadow top coat. Snowy Glow is a pink coral with a subtle golden sheen.

Now for the look I`ve been wearing with this palette, I have to use a primer with these shadows for them to show up as much as they can. I started with Frost on my upper lid up to the crease and on my inner lower lash line. I added Platinum to the outer half of my upper lid blended a bit into the crease and added to the middle section of my lower lash line. I used Coal to smudge along my upper lash line and winged out at the outer corner, also placed it on the outer lower lash line. Lastly, I used Glimmer as a highlight shade on my brow bone and basically all around my eye makeup since it is so sheer, it just adds some glimmer to the look.

Full face makeup includes ELF BB Cream, ELF Tone Correcting Powder, the included Snowy Glow blush in the palette, YSL Rouge Volupte 9 lipstick, Diorshow waterproof mascara, Mally Evercolor waterproof eyeliner in black.

*DEAL ALERT: The Studio Gear Holiday Smokey Eye Palette is $10 on, and they are offering it for FREE if you buy $30 worth of Studio Gear products.
