Hi everyone! It`s been a long time since I`ve posted a review and it`s not because I haven`t been trying products, it`s just that trying them out and taking pictures and writing out reviews does take time and energy. Today I`m reviewing the relatively new Physicians Formula Organic Wear Lash Boosting Mascara in Ultra Black. I purchased this from my work, so I got a 13% PLUS a 20% discount for being an associate, and this was also a bonus pack. There were two mascaras for the price of one.
Price & Availability - $10 for a single pack; $10 if you get the bonus pack - Available wherever Physicians Formula products are sold
Shade(s) - I purchased Ultra Black, which is the darkest shade - Other shade available: Black
Packaging - This packaging is actually the same as the original Organic Wear mascara: it is shaped like a leaf but the packaging is black instead of green - Wand is the plastic bristle type, similar to the CoverGirl mascaras
Scent - None that I can remember, but since it`s mascara I`m not worried about a scent
Pros - Readily/widely available - Very black pigmentation - 100% natural ingredients - Did lengthen and volumize - I personally like these types of wands, but everyone`s preference is different
Neutrals - Price: expensive for ONE mascara - Shape: I think it`s a bit bulky - It kind of clumped up my lashes on the second coat, but you can fix that with a lash comb - Can`t attest to the claims of better lashes in 4 weeks
Cons - Smudges like crazy
Thoughts I was initially very excited to try this mascara because GlamLifeGuru on YouTube spoke very highly of this mascara as well as the original. So when I saw it at work in the bonus pack I decided it wouldn`t be a bad deal to try. It definitely made my lashes look thicker and longer, which I absolutely love. What I really hated was that it smudged on my lower lash line worse than any mascara I have ever tried. I am one of those people who will put makeup on ONCE a day and forget about it. I don`t carry touch up powder in my purse; I just blot with a tissue. Even if I carry lipstick/gloss in my purse I usually won`t reapply throughout the day or after eating. I do, though, check my makeup in the mirror throughout the day and since I work in a department store there are mirrors everywhere. So imagine my surprise when I looked in the mirror
after only a couple hours of work and found I had raccoon eyes for only one eye! And, of course, no one at work bothered to tell me my mascara smudged under one eye and not the other. Granted, this is not a waterproof or water-resistant formula, but even GlamLifeGuru said this did not smudge at all and she layers this stuff on like there`s no tomorrow. In the interest of trials, I tried this mascara again in the hopes that it wouldn`t smudge again, but that didn`t happen. I wore it out a couple times and every time it smudged under the same eye. So I packaged this baby back up and returned it. I can`t vouch for the claim that it will improve your lashes in four weeks because I didn`t try it out for that long, but it definitely made my lashes look better instantly.
Overall I really love the look it gave my lashes because it made them look full and long, but I was not loving the one-eyed raccoon look. This might work better if your skin is drier and/or your lashes don`t touch the area under your eye like mine do. Thanks for reading! Have you tried out this mascara? What do you think of it?
