Today`s blog post review is on an eyeshadow trio from NYX called Aquamarine. Basically, it has three eyeshadows that are all some sort of shade of blue, going from light to dark. I received this in a makeup package from my pal, Lauren, a few weeks ago. You can get these for seven dollars each at the NYX website.
As you can see, the lightest is on the left and the darkest is on the right.
Texture: The texture of these eyeshadows is not terrible! There`s some good news. When swatched, they feel quite soft and swatch pretty well. Blending isn`t a hassle either. It`s not perfection, but I didn`t get frustrated trying to blend the shadows (with a MAC 217 and a SOHO pink handled crease brush). I experienced minor fallout. Most fallout that I had came from the darkest shade.
Pigmentation: Alright, here comes an issue. Also, obviously, the shades I have swatched on my fingers aren`t lined up with the palette (ha except the middle, that`s perfect!). Am I an idiot? Yes. Oh well. The middle and last shade have very decent pigmentation. The darkest had the best out of the three. The first one, the lightest, was absolute crap. It sucks when swatched and it was even worse on my lid even with a primer (I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance). It took layers and layers just to get it to show up decently on my lid and I still ended up covering it with MAC Steamy because it would fade/look patchy on my eye. Da fu, yo?! But the other two, I really had no issues with as far as pigmentation goes.
Wear time: With a good primer like Too Faced Shadow Insurance, these shadows (lol well, with MAC Steamy on the lid) stayed pretty well. I had very little creasing and fading issues (with the two darker shades, anyway) after nine hours.
Overall, it is an alright trio. It`s not my favourite and it`s not something I use very often. I didn`t pay for this since it was a gift and I`m not so sure I`d pay 7$ for one. I have other NYX shadows, another palette and some singles (also from Lauren, ha), and I`m just not the biggest fan of NYX shadows although they are some of the better ones for drugstore prices.
Have you tried the NYX trios before? Do you still own them? Let me know in a comment.
Please see the original review on my blog as well. It looks prettier. ;)
