Review | MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Hello everyone!

In this post I`ll be reviewing MAC`s Mineralized Skinfinish Natural (MSF) in Medium Plus.

Price | $30 US for 10g; $34 CAD for 10g

Background | I purchased this initially to use as a daily face powder. I was in the market for a powder that would minimize shine, add a tiny bit more coverage to my foundation and bare face, prolong the longevity of my foundation and not look cakey.

Review | This formulation (mineral) is extremely soft and easy to pick up on a brush, however it can get messy if you use too dense of a brush. It`ll cause too much powder to come off so you have to use a soft brush. It has very fine microshimmer which aren`t detectable on the skin. On bare skin, it adds a sheer hint of coverage and absorbs excess shine. Over foundation, it mattifies the finish and texture. It doesn`t do much for oil control through-out the day; it only slightly absorbs oil. The longevity is so-so; it lasts through 6 hours before pretty much disappearing. These shades also run light so make sure to check them out in person. I heard they tend to oxidize and turn orange, but it hasn`t happened to me.

Final Thoughts | It`s best suited for normal to combination skin. If you`re in the market for a basic powder and aren`t afraid to splurge, I say go for the MSF. However, you could probably find something similar in your local drugstore if you`re counting pennies. I wouldn`t repurchase this product.
