Hello lovely Luuuxers! If you`ve seen my September favorites (which you can read /viz/janes-september-favorites-%E2%9D%A4-sorry-so-late), you saw that the
L`Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation has been working very well for me ever since I bought it! I honestly think I may have found my holy-grail drugstore foundation! Before I get into the review, I will go over my skin type for anyone who doesn`t know. I have dry skin, especially now that the weather has gotten more crisp, and I have pervasive redness due to rosacea and broken capillaries. I only get occasional breakouts. I also have pretty dark circles. The first thing I look for in a drugstore foundation is the color match. I have loved the original True Match foundation for many years because it was the only drugstore foundation I could find that matched my neutral skin undertone. I`ve found that most lean yellow or pink, but very few are in that middle ground. The True Match line makes matching easy, because they code their shades by number and by W, N, and C, for warm, neutral, and cool. The True Match Lumi foundations don`t have ask many shades as the original, but they still have quite a large range. My shade is N1-2 (Soft Ivory-Classic Ivory), and I find that I actually like this shade better than N2 in original True Match. I suppose I am truly shade 1.5! As much as I want hydration and luminosity from my foundation because mine is so dry, I also don`t want to look shiny or oily. I really just want my foundation to look like real skin--to look smooth and just satiny enough to look vibrant. This foundation does exactly that. The finish is so natural and beautiful that I can honestly say my skin has never looked better with makeup on! I still set it with a powder, but it still retains its satiny finish. I wouldn`t say it`s exactly long-lasting, but it lasts throughout an entire workday with only minimal touch-ups around my T-zone! This is all I really ask of my everyday foundation anyway, so I am satisfied. I have some dry patches close to my mouth, and this foundation glides over them like a dream without clinging. It also does not emphasize my pores at all, and I think it performs much better than the original True Match in that aspect! It also builds so beautifully. I put one light layer over my entire face to even out my redness, and then build it up in the smaller areas where my redness is brighter. I would say the coverage is light-medium, but when it is layered, it certainly provides medium (practically full) coverage. I cannot vouch for how well it covers acne or scarring, but since it builds so well, I can imagine it would cover these well too. One of the best parts of this foundation is the packaging! The pump is AWESOME!!! Everyone loves pumps because they are hygienic; I`m not sure why other drugstore brands haven`t caught on to that yet! The pump functions excellently, in that you can control how much you want to come out. I usually use one full pump to provide sheer coverage to my whole face, and then pump out a little at a time to cover the parts that need more coverage. It is SO easy and mess-free! As for application, I`ve found that I like using my fingers with this foundation. I`ve also used my ELF Powder Brush to buff it in and it also looks beautiful. I can see this working in a variety of ways to suit everyone`s preference! The one criticism I can find with this foundation is the price. I bought it at my local CVS when it first came out for $12.99. I usually wait for sales when I buy drugstore makeup but I was so excited to try it that I couldn`t wait any longer and I snatched it up! However, L`Oreal goes on sale quite often, and coupons are easy to find on their website and in newspaper circulars, so it shouldn`t be hard to purchase it for less than $10 if you try. For a foundation that works this well, I would have been willing to pay twice as much! So, to sum everything up:
PROS: -Excellent shade range with code numbers for easy matching -Beautiful satiny finish that is luminous but has no shimmer or sparkle -Glides over dry spots and feels hydrating on the skin without being heavy -Builds easily to provide a range of coverage depending on preference -Excellent pump packaging -Can be applied in a variety of ways -Has SPF 20! -Found at drugstores everywhere
CONS: -A bit pricey for drugstore makeup -Probably will make oily-skinned ladies a bit too shiny
Have you tried the L`Oreal True Match Lumi foundation? Do you want to? Let me know! :) xoxo (image is mine!) makeup
