Hi everyone! Here is another L`Oreal product review and this one is on one of the shades from their new Le Balm line. These came out right around the same time as the Revlon Lip Butters so it of course invites comparison!
Price & Availability - $7 to $9 depending on where you purchase - Available wherever L`Oreal products are sold
Shade & Finish - Rose Elixir is a very sheer rose pink with a sheen
Packaging - Square plastic packaging, very similar to the Revlon Lip Butters - The color of the cap is indicative of the color in the tube - Features a lock and key type closure (picture #5) so you can only put the cap on one way
Scent - It does have a light scent to it. Not overpowering in any way. I think it was a rose type scent.
Pros - Widely available - Nice packaging - Very moisturizing - The entire range is wearable colors - Has SPF 15
Neutrals - Expensive for a drugstore product and for how much you get (0.1 oz) - Can only put the cap on one way - Because the product is very slick feeling, it only lasts a couple hours
Cons - Color is VERY sheer
Thoughts When this product and the Lip Butters were released I was initially wary of getting either product because they seemed to just be tinted lip balms. However, the Lip Butters proved to be super pigmented and came in a wide range of colors so those were the first ones I collected. The Le Balms did not go on sale as often, or for as much, as the Lip Butters so I wasn`t able to pick up any until recently. I think I picked up most of the Le Balm colors (they have less than 10 shades, compared to the Lip Butters which have around 20), and Rose Elixir looks like a very pretty rose pink shade in the tube, however on my lips you can`t even tell there`s anything but gloss/balm on them. This may not be a problem if you don`t have pigmented lips, but it`ll probably be a waste of money for those of you that do. As you`ll notice, I didn`t even bother putting up lip swatches of this shade, because you will only notice the slightest tint of pink to my lips, and because of this lack of pigmentation I had to return this product. These are extremely moisturizing, more so than the Lip Butters, but since it doesn`t have much color payoff, I wasn`t willing to pay $4 for a pretty chapstick. (These were on sale at CVS for $5.99 and I had several $2 off coupons so I was able to get all of my Le Balms for $3.99 each.)
Overall These are very moisturizing and feel nice and slick on the lips. However, if you have pigmented lips this will only be good as an expensive lip balm. Thanks for reading!
