Review: Givenchy Teint Couture Long-Wearing Foundation

Hello lovely Luuuxers!

A little while ago, Sephora had their 15% off promotion. I try to save any big or splurge-y purchases for these sales, which Sephora usually has twice a year. Makeup rarely goes on sale so I like to capitalize when I can!

I originally returned something and was looking around, and of course, the Sephora makeup artist applied one of the most pricey foundations on me, and of course, I loved it! I hate how that happens!!! She suggested the Givenchy Teint Couture foundation, since I told her that I want something that will look fresh even during my long days of school and work.

I bought the shade number 3, Elegant Sand. I have been applying this foundation using my Real Techniques expert face brush, which is basically like a small rounded kabuki brush. I like to dab it on to my face and then use the brush to sort of stipple it on, and then use circular motions to blend. It blends in like a complete dream! Almost instantly it looks like your skin, instead of looking like it is sitting on top of the skin. The color match is pretty good too, for my fair neutral-toned skin.

The coverage of this foundation is just right. It has enough coverage to cancel out my redness, dark circles, and overall unevenness (and trust me, I have a lot of that!). I would say it is medium coverage that very easily builds up to full. I like how when I wear this, it doesn`t come off as mask-like, just like some full coverage foundations do. When I just keep it at medium coverage, my skin still looks like real skin and not artificial or airbrushed. I think this makes it perfect for every day wear, but the fact that it can be easily built up makes it also nice for going out at night.

This foundation has SPF 20, which is awesome! I always like my face products to have SPF in them for extra protection. Keep this in mind though--I haven`t tested this foundation with flash photography and sometimes SPF can cause the face to have a white-cast.

This foundation has a slight smell; I can`t tell if the scent was on purpose or not. It is not unpleasant but it is also not something that I care for--it`s sort of like perfume but still chemical-y. Fortunately, once it`s blended in it is impossible to smell it at all.

As for the staying power, it really is amazing. I don`t think I`ve ever had a foundation that looks as good as this one after over ten hours of wear. Even though I get a little bit shiny, the foundation still makes my complexion look even. And the shininess comes off more like a luminosity than anything. This foundation is quickly becoming my favorite for when I need it to last a long time!

Best part of all, is that this foundation feels so lightweight and it doesn`t transfer! I can`t tell you how much I hate it when foundations sit on your skin and transfer on to everything. This one is imperceptible once it`s on the cheeks, and it stays put really well.

The only drawback to this foundation is the price--I got it for 15% off, but it typically retails for about $50 for less than 1 fluid oz! YIKES! I love how it performs and I feel like it was worth the money, but I will likely have to wait until Sephora has their other sale in the Fall if I ever want to repurchase it! Otherwise my wallet will start weeping, haha!

Hope you all found this review helpful! Will any of you try this foundation? Have any of you already tried it? Let me know in the comments! :)
