REVIEW: ELF Studio BB Cream SPF 20

ELF has produced their own version of the super trendy BBCream that has been spiking everyone`s interest in the worldwide beauty community. Essentially, a BB Cream is designed to incorporate skincare and makeup for a one step product. Some companies go as simple as a tinted moisturizer, where you get adequate hydration with a tint of color, while some companies really pack in the qualities of numerous products like primer, moisturizer, concealer, foundation, setting powder, anti-aging, etc. Today, I`ll be sharing my review on the ELF Studio BB Cream SPF 20 ($6, 1.06 oz), available in six shades from fair to dark; I have the shade nude.

The tube feels similar to their Studio Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 and Studio Maximum Coverage Concealer, where it has a matte/rubbery feel. It comes with a pump top, very handy in controlling how much product you use.

The formula is a little thicker than their Studio and Essential Tinted Moisturizers, it`s more creamy and less emollient than those other formulas. The creamy BB Cream is very easy to blend into the skin, I personally found the coverage more natural when using my hands, but using a damp beauty sponge is my second preferred method. When I have tried using the Studio Powder Brush (flat top) and the Studio Stippling Brush, the finish was sheerer but still easy to blend - no streaks.

The color swatches peachy/orange toned because it is a concentrated swatch, but when worn it blends with my yellow/olive toned skin very easily. I`m approximately NC20 in MAC and 3.0 in Urban Decay Naked, I have visible yellow tones to my skin and I highly appreciate the peachy tone the shade Nude has because it comes off more natural on me. It has just enough pink to it to look realistic and not too much orange to look faux-tanned.

On its own, the Studio BB Cream will get a little shiny in my oiliest areas (I have dry/oily combo skin) within the first 3hrs of wear. If I blot, I`m good to go for another few hours. The light coverage stays all day, but after 8hrs of wear you can start to see my redness peaking through (and that`s during a full day of cleaning house and playing with my kids).

How I Like to Wear it:
I prep my skin with the Mineral Infused Face Primer
Apply the Studio BB Cream with my hands, apply extra in places I need more coverage
Gently press the Warm Tone Correcting Powder into the skin and brush away the excess powder
Touch-ups: gently use blotting papers and reapplying a little more powder
