For those of you who are in Canada and are a member of Goodlife Fitness or for those who know of the Les Mills Program, you would be familiar with BodyCombat.
Personally, I love this class and I`m glad the Goodlife gym next to my condo has this class 4 times a week.
Overall, this is a great class for those who want to add some more cardio to their routine without heading to a treadmill or elliptical. As they change mixes quite frequently, you`re rarely bored.
Basically you start off with small punches for the first 5-10 minutes to get your heart rate up.
Then for the next 40 minutes, you`re punching, kicking, blocking and you`re constantly moving without much rest. However, you don`t feel the burn because the music is overpowering.
The last 5-10 minutes is the hardest part, with pushups, sometimes planks and crunches. Normally they are easy, but right after a 45 minute cardio routine, they become very hard.
The best part is, you`re accountable for going, especially when you meet people there. My gym is very open and most members do know each other. Because you`re in a group environment, you feel more compelled to go.
The site says that the average calorie burn is 737 calories. I don`t think this applies to everyone as it depends on your gender, your height and weight.
For myself, I get about a good 300-350 calories burned in that class. But I am about 5`6 and 97 lbs.
For those who want to try it, its a great and fun class. We have a signup sheet for it as it got too popular and overcrowding became an issue.
You don`t regret it =)
