Red Nails: OPI Malaga Wine

A couple years back, I was obsessed with colorful nails. Whether it was brights, neons, pastels, or darks, I loved painting my nails with every color I was able to acquire.

However, within about the past year or year and a half, I have discovered that I really only like the color red on my nails. I have always painted my toes nothing but red, but now I like to solely have red on my fingernails as well. And I don`t like just any red color. I much prefer deeper brown-based reds with cream finishes more commonly categorized as "blood red."

I went through an entire bottle of a Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro nail lacquer in Burgundy Flirt. I find that to be the perfect shade of red, as brown-based reds suit my fair skin the best. But the problem with that polish is that it dries up fairly quickly so that I can only get through half the bottle before I have to dispose of it.

I went of a hunt for a similar color by OPI since they have a nice formula. I settled on Malaga Wine, which I purchased from the Pure Beauty store near my workplace. I do love the color although it leans a little more berry/wine than brown, hence the name Malaga Wine. But in the bottle, it looks rather brown based. Therefore, I probably will not repurchase the polish, although I would recommend it since it is a beautiful color. As I continue my search for the best brown-based blood red nail lacquer, I am contemplating trying a Chanel lacquer next, despite the steep price tag that accompanies it. Let`s hope their polishes are really worth the $26 they charge per bottle.
