Probably the only Asian ice cream that I have tried are mainly green tea, mango and coconut. So I was quite surprised to have see red bean as an option. I personally enjoy red bean soup so I knew I`d like this ice cream.
-Brand: Hime Red Bean Ice Cream. I haven`t seen this brand before but I believe they also make other flavours according to an online search. Turns out that they also sell green tea ice cream too! :o
-Taste: This ice cream tastes exactly like red bean soup. It has a nice balance of sugar and cream. In the ice cream there were some bits of actual bean that was quite soft to chew. I like how they added real beans to give the ice cream a bit of a texture.
- Where to buy: This was purchased at my local Asian grocery store. I don`t think you could buy this band or flavour at regular grocery stores that don`t have a large selection of Asian specialty items.
-Price: I don`t exactly recall the exact price since I was in awe of this flavour existing ha. But I think it might be around $6-$7 a tub.
Overall I really liked this ice cream and will definitely purchase it again. Hopefully I`m able to find this same brand at other store locations. Or that other brand can make red bean ice cream just as good.
Do you like red bean ice cream or red bean soup?
