This is s review for Real Techniques Starter Kit for eyes. This kit retails for $17.99 and comes with 5 brushes and a case. It often goes on sale at Ulta.
The brushes included are a base shadow brush, a deluxe crease brush, a accent brush, a pixel point eyeliner brush, and a brow brush.
The shadow brush is like any other shadow brush. It applies eyeshadows to your eyes quite nicely and is really soft. There`s no bristle fall out. You can use it to apply an all over color from the lid up to your brow bone or just on your lid.
The crease brush is soft and bigger than the normal crease brush I`m used to using. I have smaller eye space so this would be too big to apply color to my crease. But I like to use this to lightly apply my transition color from to my crease and slightly above my crease. But I wouldn`t use it to apply color just to my crease just cause the brush is too big. It`s not great for blending out colors because it`s a bit more on the dense side. It`s still a great brush. If you have more lid/ eye space, this crease brush is perfect for you. But I still like it as s brush to apply my transition shade. You can also use it to apply an all over color.
The accent brush is also soft and little more stiff than the shadow brush. It`s great for detail work. I use it occasionally to apply highlight to the inner corners of my eyes. Sometimes I use it to apply shadow to my lower lash line if I want more detailed work. You can also use it to apply a pop of color to the center of your lids.
The eyeliner brush has to be my favorite out of all the brushes in this set. I use it to apply my gel liner. I can make thin or thick lines with it. And I can use it to create a nice wing. I usually brush the bristles against the pot to make the brush more flat to give me a sharper wing. I really love this brush and wish they sell it separately cause I need more than one for different color gel liners ... Hahaha
The last brush is the brow brush. This is an angled brush that is stiff but has soft bristles for the purpose of applying color to the brow. This brush is thicker than my tarte brush that comes with the tarte brow mousse. I think this brush is perfect for using with powder brow products or even to apply shadow to the lower lash line. You can also use it to smudge out your liner. I prefer to use my tarte brush for my brow pomade over this brush just because I like the way it applys. This will work with a pomade too but since it`s more stiff, you would need to make sure you get a tiny amount of pomade on the brush and lightly apply for a more natural effect.
All in all, I do recommend this set and I think it`s worth the price tag especially since they do go on sale. This is a great set to start off your collection with too. I just wish they would sell certain brushes separately because as we all know, we do have certain favorites out of all the brush sets we own.. Lol
