Hello lovely Luuuxers! I`m here today with a quick review on the new powder that I got in the mail a little while ago, the ELF High Definition Powder. I couldn`t believe it, I got it on http://eyeslipsface.com for half off during one of their promotions, and then I went to Target a few days later and saw that they`ve just started selling this product! D`oh! I could have saved myself money on shipping. Oh well, now I know that I can buy backups of this product at Target because...I LOVE IT!!
I`ve used this powder for many purposes and I`ve really loved it. I have dry skin, which is why I was looking for a high-definition product because makeup tends to look dry and cakey on me. This product does exactly what I want it to do: sets my foundation and keeps it in place without adding any visible powdery-ness to my face. It makes my face feel SO soft and it blurs out the large pores that I have on my cheeks near my nose. It`s a miracle because normally setting powders make this issue worse!!
The product is a very finely milled white powder that applies to the skin translucently. Be very careful, this stuff can get MESSY! This is the kind of product where you have to put it on a tissue or paper plate or else it will get everywhere. I am willing to deal with this for the benefits though! I also taped over a bunch of the holes in the sifter to make sure that just the right amount of product came out. It is such a fine powder that it can be easy to use too much. I dip my Elf Complexion Brush into the jar and lightly buff it in to my skin, and I love the airbrushed effect that it gives to my complexion!!
My skin is VERY fair, which is why this powder is able to go on translucently. I`ve heard other reviews of people saying that it went more white-ish because they had darker skin tones. I can`t speak from experience, but I believe this powder does blend in fairly well and won`t leave too much of a white cast, especially if you use a dense brush such as a kabuki brush to buff it in to the skin.
The one downside to this powder is that it doesn`t do much in terms of oil control. Although I do have dry skin, I do get a bit shiny when I wear makeup, especially on my nose. I still have to use my old powder (Cover Girl Clean Pressed Powder) on my nose to control shininess. But that`s alright, I`ll survive! :)
As for this being a dupe for the Make Up For Ever HD Powder, I don`t know. I`ve never used that product so I cannot compare them. I`ve heard most reviews say that it works just as well, and and $6 compared to around $40 for MUFE, you really can`t go wrong!
Like I said earlier, this product can be found at http://www.eyeslipsface.com, as well as Target!! Hope you enjoyed this review! :)
