Really sorry about the terrible quality of my photo, but tartufo is one of my favorite Italian desserts.
Tartufo is a very similar to gelato as it is mixed in a way that there is almost no air bubbles present. It`s a frozen Italian dessert that has a round shape. Usually it`s a ball of chocolate gelato and the inside is fruit sorbet.
The tartufo I had was a chocolate gelato surrounding a raspberry sorbet, with cocoa powder on top. It was absolutely delicious.
The raspberry sorbet was made with fresh raspberries so you could actually taste the actual raspberry chunks in the sorbet. There was very little added sugar or syrup and it was very sour. Which was why you would eat it with the chocolate gelato. The chocolate gelato was very creamy and sweet, while the cocoa powder gave it a very bitter and grainy texture. Mixed with the raspberry sorbet, it was a perfect mix of sweet, tartness and bitterness. It was very delicate and you feel refreshed eating it.
Makes your mouth water, doesn`t it?
