A review of Emma Watson`s favorite book...
Let me begin by saying that I was/am a huge Harry Potter fan. I love Harry, Hermione, Ron the whole shebang, so when I read online that one of Emma Watsons favorite books was "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith, I had to read it.
First off, I wasnt disappointed. It was entertaining and I really enjoyed it. The book can be categorized as Young Adult, but I think it is still very suitable for older audiences. The story is a narrative told from the perspective of a 17 year old girl, Cassandra, writing in her journal. She begins her tale just as her poverty stricken family has the great fortune to meet a pair of rich men from America. The reader gets to follow Cassandra through the many hijinks that ensue as she, and her eccentric family, interacts with the newcomers.
The story is a romance, but it is also a discovery and endearing coming of age story. This book is a real page- turner and can be read quite quickly if one set aside a leisure weekend for it. The writing is great and the novel really pulls the reader in. Its easy to relate to the characters and their relationships. I really felt in tune with the narrator, as if I really knew someone like her or was her when I was younger.
Overall, I would recommend this book to others.
Have you guys read this book? Did you like it?
