Like I said in previous posts, Portugal is a little country where you can find all kinds of grounds, since plains until high mountains. And the second highest mountain in Portugal, called "Serra da Estrela", that basically means "Mountain of the Star", (image 4) is one of the most famous places of the country. As it would be expected on a mountain with more than 2000 meters high, it has lots of snow in the winter, with a luxuriant sky resort that not only works in winter, but due to the magic of modern times, works during all the year because of the artificial snow track.
But there is another thing that actually makes this mountain famous. It is called the "Head of the Old Man" and, as you can see on the pictures above, it looks like the sculpture of an head of a man... So no big deal right? Wrong... It is not a sculpture. It is just a rock, that was shaped like that by mother nature... Hundreds of years of rain, snow, wind and sun, to make a rock look like an head with a big nose and a beard.
It is really impressive the perfection of the shapes that it has. It is an important touristic attraction that you can find on the way to the top of the mountain and, obviously, there is a lot of merchandising that you can buy with the head theme, since mugs, to t-shirts and all that kind of stuff.
So, what do you think about this? Have you ever visited "Serra da Estrela"? Have you ever seen a sculpture like this one made by the mother nature?
