So I`m sure everyone has heard of this mask, <strong>Queen Helene`s Original Mint Julep Masque</strong>! When I visited the States, I was pretty anxious about getting this because I have heard countless raves about this being an amazing product.
So I purchased this from Walgreens in the States for $2.99 (USD), it was on sale I believe. Now you might be wondering, why buy it in the States? The simple answer is...they don`t have it in Canada...well not that I know of so purchasing it in the States would have been the only option for me :(
So even though I purchased this mask a while back in May, I didn`t want to write a review on it just yet because I wanted to give it a try first! So onto the review!
<strong>On the Queen Helene website, it states about the Mint Julep Masque that...</strong>
<cite>"Mint Julep Masque is the original natural home treatment to help dry up pimples, rinse away blackheads and shrink enlarged pores. Simply apply Mint Julep Masque to your clean face and neck. As it firms and hardens within minutes, it draws out impurities from your pores. After the masque is removed, your skin will feel clean, refreshed and smooth. Even for individuals who are fortunate to be free of skin problems, Mint Julep Masque is a refreshing facial treatment that helps relax tired muscles and ease tension lines on the face and neck."</cite>
After using it for about a month, I have to admit that my pores have shrunken a tiny bit...not a whole lot but a tiny bit so I`m really excited about that! Even though my pores have shrunk, I`m still dealing with blackheads. It does dry up pimples but my sister claims that it doesn`t (we both have different types of skin), so if you like me who has one or two pimples here and there, it should dry them up when you apply the mask, but unlike my sister (who does have acne across her forehead), it may take more than 1 application of the mask to dry out some pimples. Again, remember, everyone`s skin is different.
The actually product comes in a tube (no duh...it`s in the pictures LOL). I found that my mask was really hard to squeeze out of the tube...the paste was super thick (is it suppose to be like that?). It comes out to be a light army green and has the most comforting smell of mint (but its really strong). When you first put the mask on, there`s a huge tingling sensation on your skin because of the mint in the mask, but with time, it slowly becomes less tingling unless you fan at it to make it dry faster.
<strong>So here is my routine when I focus on my face (I do this about once or twice a week depending on how I feel my skin is doing):</strong>
<ol> <li>Scrub and cleanse with the Oil of Olay`s Blackhead Clearing Scrub.</li> <li>Using Freeman`s Cucumber Facial Peel-Off Mask (<strong>which is amazing by the way!</strong>), I apply an even coat on my face and wait for it to dry and then peel off to get rid of any excess oils, dirt or skin.</li><li>Then I use the Queen Helene Original Mint Julep Masque on my face.</li> </ol>
After trying the Original Mint Julep Masque, I definitely would repurchase it again because its cheap and I feel like it works for my skin. But unfortunately, I won`t get a chance to repurchase unless I find it in Canada or I visit the States again.
Have you tried the Mint Julep Mask before? Did you like it or dislike it? For all those who live in Canada, have you been able to find this anywhere?
