I recently stopped by a Purdy`s Chocolates - I had some time to kill and just wanted to browse. Since Easter was just last week, they had their Easter chocolates on sale for 50% off. When I saw the Creamy Yolk Easter eggs, I pretty much had to get a package of them. I am one of those people who love Cadbury Creme Eggs (or rather...the IDEA of them), but who get sick whenever they eat one, lol. So I thought that since these "Creamy Yolk" eggs were made by a "fancy" chocolate company, that they had to be awesome.
Well...they WERE awesome! The filling was very sweet, and there was lots of it, but unlike Cadbury Creme Eggs, there was some flavour going on there. I`m not sure what it tasted like, exactly, but it wasn`t eggy (that would be gross, lol). I just know that it wasn`t simply a straight hit of sugar! The chocolate shell was great - dark chocolate, being less sweet than milk chocolate, made all the difference. So, although this was a very sweet candy, it was a million times better than Cadbury Creme Eggs. :)
A package of three large eggs was $4.75 at the regular price, but I got them for $2.37. Definitely a good deal - these eggs are a bit larger than Cadbury`s, FYI. At 160 calories per egg, they`re not too bad, either. :)
I think I will be purchasing these next year. They are a great little upscale/"adult" Easter treat (though I`m sure kids would love them, too)!
