Before running my errands, my boyfriend and I decided to stop by a restaurant near my house for their well-known pupusas. Pupusa is a traditional Salvadoran dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla that is usually filled with a blend of the following: cheese, pork meat, refried beans, or queso con loroco. The restaurant is called Los Planes De Renderos Pupuseria. This restaurant is a whole in a hole. When we first went in, we didn`t know where to order. But than this lady popped her head out of the kitchen and asked us what we wanted. We ordered 2 pupusa de chicharron (corn tortilla filled with shredded pork) and 2 pupusas de revuelta (corn tortilla filled with cheese, refried beans, shredded pork). The pupusas also came with fermented cabbage slaw with and a watery tomato salsa. The pupusas were so good! I can`t believe I haven`t tried this restaurant before. I especially like the fermented cabbage slaw. I can`t wait to go back.
What did you have for lunch?
