The Bichon Maltese is not suited for young children, no matter how well intentioned they are. Children can not help being clumsy, which means that a child is often
a nightmare for the race. Most of the time the race feels disturbed by loud and quick movements that children can not fail to do - and stress and fear (or even a bite
protection) can be the result.
More than most other breeds, the Maltese need a great deal of companionship and dislike being left alone for more than a few hours.
They tend to express their unhappiness through biting things around and barking.
If you work all day, and the dog is left alone, this is not the breed for you.
