`Prom Fever` started a few months ago at my school. Even in early November, girls were running out to buy $400 dresses and choosing groups to go in and accepting `promposals.` Don`t get me wrong, I am totally hyped for prom this year! It`s in exactly one week and I can`t be more excited. But I just wonder if prom is really worth all this hype. I mean, by the time prom actually comes around, most of these girls have spent around $600 on everything from the dress to having their nails done. Personally, I don`t see the point in spending all the money for that. This year I went to JCPenney to shop for my dress. I found one for $100 which was 40% off, and then my stepmom had a 15% off coupon, so I ended up spending only $53 on my dress. I had straps added to the dress at a local alterations shop, which only cost me $30. Adding on my hair cost, tickets, and dinner cost, I`ll only spend about $150-175 on my whole prom experience this year.
So those of you spending an unnatural amount of money on prom (especially if it`s just your junior prom) then you should really think again. Is all that money really worth it? Chances are, you`re going to have a great time no matter if you dress cost $400 or $100.
