So... as you may have already guessed from the title, I completely crashed and burned in this attempt at Project 10-Pan. :( There were too many temptations and I fell for it at the stupid drugstore again; I went in for eggs and toilet paper and came out with eyeshadow (at least I did get the other stuff, too). Oops. Needless to say, I feel pretty disappointed with myself.
On the positive side, I did limit my spending to a budget, and I bought just one item from each line that I was particularly curious about and that I felt I would get a lot of use from. I also have been more conscientious about using up things already in my stash. I did manage to finally use up the following items from my original post:
- Stila Diamond Lil eyeshadow (quite possibly the first eyeshadow I`ve ever touched pan on and basically on its last legs but I included it anyway)
- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle sample vial from Sephora
- Wet n Wild Megalash clinical mascara
I am slogging my way through the rest, but it feels like it`s taking forever.
I donated a big bag of things I wasn`t using to charity (search the interwebs and check out your local domestic abuse centers, shelters, and career assistance sites if you are curious about where to donate new and unused toiletries - it really helps), my sisters, mom, and her church lady friends, and finished a respectable amount of skincare items within the last month (1 bottle of body wash, 1 bottle of Olay face wash, 1 bottle of B&BW Freshwater Cucumber hand soap, 1 bottle of Missha makeup remover, 1 tub of face cream, 1 bottle of body lotion, 1 tube of toothpaste) and feel okay, if not great, about my first attempt at P10P. I`ve been telling myself it`s the thought that counts... anyway, I am learning a lot more about my makeup preferences (things like, Revlon lip butters aside, I cannot stand the look and feel of lipstick on me, I hate tanning but I really dig bronzers, and I love those one-step cleansing wipes because let`s face it, sometimes you feel lazy and washing your face is too much of a project). Additionally, I am getting a lot better feel for the products I`m using and can give better reviews/recommendations, since products do change a bit as you use them, as do your feelings/expectations about them. So a bunch of good things despite the fail, and I`d like to take another stab at it. Maybe if I flee to some remote island somewhere away from magazines and YouTube gurus...
Anyone else out there make any beauty resolutions or attempt a Project 10 Pan? Were you more successful than me? :)
