I love these lampshades designed by Spanish designer Alvaro Catalán de Ocón using discarded plastic bottles. At first I thought they were made using hats and was really surprised to find out that they are actually made from old plastic bottles. What a great and eco friendly design idea.
The project was developed in Columbia using ancient textile traditions and the company set up a workshop of artesans who had been displaced by guerilla war, so they are also making a great social impact as well as an environmental one.
