I picked up these peanut butter oatmeal cookies by Kraft from Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for $1.99.
I think that the concept of combining oatmeal with peanut butter is novel and delicious. Oatmeal cookies are generally thought of as "healthy" cookies, and peanut butter is definitely also better for you than sugary icings and creams. I was really intrigued when I saw these for the first time, especially since they are called "Pirate". I still have no idea why they are called "Pirate", and it`s not as if the packaging is related to actual pirates either.
These cookies taste great because they are not too sweet. In fact, they taste quite mild for cookies. You get the oat texture from the biscuit and then the creamy peanut butter filling. The peanut butter filling is comparatively harder and more solid than what you would find in a real jar of peanut butter, but it works and is more cookie-like that way. Each cookie is smaller than I expected -- they are the size of Oreos, and two is generally enough for me in one serving.
These cookies are 170 calories per serving (2 cookies) which is not bad for cookies. They do not have trans fats, although they do have saturated fat. They have 12g of sugar per serving, which is also relatively low compared to other cookie brands.
Overall, I like this product and would recommend it to others. I would also consider buying them again when I run out.
