When I had picked up the ricotta tart that was like a sponge last time I went to the Portuguese bakery, I also picked up 3 of these pineapple custard pastries with the maraschino cherry in the centre. You can never go wrong with a pastry with custard which is what I think. The pastry crust was light, sweet and flaky. It had a sweet custard, pineapple, maraschino cherry, and flaked coconut on top. This is probably one of my favorite pastries that I have gotten from the Portuguese bakery because of how tropical it is. It makes me miss Hawaii and all the cheap fresh pineapple I ate every day and the super hot humid weather.
