Pet therapy actually can date back to about 150 years ago. Florence Nightingale recongnized the impact animals could have on human beings. In studies, dating back the the 1970`s it has been shown that pets can lower risks of heart attack and high blood pressure. They also release a hormone in humans called oxytocin which basically makes up happy and trusting but this hormone also help our bodies ability to heal faster etc etc.. And the effects go on and on. I love animals already but now there is some scientific evidence that states the benefits of theraputic animals which can now be found in many hospitals and other places to encourage and lift peoples spirits.
The dog in the picture is a stray we are fostering. He is in need of a good home. If you are interested in him, please let me know. Thanks, guys!
