So, yo continue my series of posts about castles that I really want to go visit, today I will share with you some information I found about the Peles Castle in Romania.
This beautiful castle was built between 1873 and 1914 for the King Carol I of Romania and its cost is approx. $US 120 million today.
This Castle is known as one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, and it is located on the Carpathian Mountains. The castle has 168 rooms, but only 35 are accessible to the public. I don`t know about you, but I really want to go visit the rooms that are not allowed for visit :P these must be the better ones hahaha
Here is a description of the Kaiser Franz Joseph I about the castle when he was hosted there : "The Royal Castle amongst other monuments, surrounded by extremely pretty landscape with gardens built on terraces, all at the edge of dense forests. The castle itself is very impressive through the riches it has accumulated: old and new canvases, old furniture, weapons, all sort of curios, everything placed with good taste. We took a long hike in the mountains, afterwards we picnicked on the green grass, surrounded by the Gypsy music. We took many pictures, and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant."
