I came across this post about a teenager in New York who recently started his own store that pawns sneakers.
I think this is such a cool idea! Basically, Chase Reed go the idea when his dad would keep his sneakers as leverage so Chase would pay him back for money he borrowed. Young adults usually splurge on sneakers so it creates a way for them to pawn, or consign them when they need cash.
I`m definitely not one to spend 200 or 300 dollars on sneakers, but I know some guys who have huge shoe collections and could probably make some money getting rid of some pairs they don`t wear anymore! Some of these shoes end up increasing in value if they are limited edition, or sold out, or have been customized.
Chase also customizes sneakers in store by painting new designs on them - he has basically created a hub for show aficionados like himself!
While I`m not a huge sneaker junkie myself, I can totally appreciate what he has been able to create.
