Soft, fluffy, fragrant, handsome and very very tasty :)
I dont know from where the name come, but this has nothing to do with bread (Pão in portuguese means bread.)
This is a type of cake made with eggs, sugar and flour, the dough is very light and fluffy and it looks like a sponge :)
May sometimes be considered as a desert in some regions of Portugal, some kind have an egg filing. I havent had the opportunity to try it yet, but I would love too, it must be really good and delicious :P
These slices you are seeing are from a local bakery near my home, its a simple cake, good for tea time or in breakfast.
For sweet tooth can be accompanied by jams and jellies, since this is a very simple dry cake with no cream or filling.
Have you ever try Pão de Ló before? Do you have any kind of similar cake in your country?
