Disney has done it again!
Oz the Great and Powerful is the perfect movie to take your kids to see on a boring Sunday afternoon.
It stars Wicked Witches from West to East with a few slimy characters in between. This movie begins in Kansas, but don`t be fooled, this is no prequal to the Wizard of Oz film, this movie is based on the book series and there are more movies to come!
The movies centers around Oscar a circus magician or self claimed con man who makes his way to Oz in a hot air balloon after making the move on the wrong girl.
He makes his way to the emerald city where the witches aren`t as ugly as you`d think and all that glitters is not good.
Oz heads on a life changing adventure where he meets, flying monkeys, china dolls, good witches, tinkers and other characters you will and won`t expect.
The scenery in the movie is stunning! This is a 3D movie that is worth the extra couple dollars. I don`t recommend seeing it in IMAX if you get motion sick at all. I seen the movie in 3D and that alone made me a little dizzy in some parts.
As your watching the film try and take a moment to marvel at the tiny tiny details in the scenery because there is so much work that has gone into it, and it`s truly flawless and beautiful!
The film scoring was flawless!
The only thing that i was thrown off about in this movie, and it`s not bad, but was the comedy. I was expecting a darker more serious toned movie and it really isn`t at all.
There`s a heavy emphasis on humor, it`a light and funny and doesn`t leave you feeling down it does however end on a question of sorts.
What will happen next in the land of Oz? Only time can tell.
Oh my absolute favorite part of the movie is at the very end of the credits, the Pure Michigan logo moves up the screen. The movie was filmed and created in Pontiac MI, my birth city, which I am very proud of!
