The Vatican Library and Oxford University Library will digitize more than 1.5 million documents are available free online.
This project lasts for four years, with support from the Polonsky Foundation, which will invest about 2.4 million so that the documents are scanned and are available through a click.
The ancient manuscripts to be scanned are Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, and some early printed books, 15th century, books of some importance for researchers.
Oxford, it is stated that this decision is of great support for researchers and for students, while the Vatican indicates that these documents available to all mankind is important because it shows the basic texts which had great importance in the evolution of humanity.
Of the total number of documents to be scanned, one third is from Oxford and two thirds are from the Vatican.
