This haul is long over due but I still want to share. I ordered these items from Sephora back in December when they gave BI $15 gift cards to use when you spend $50 or more. Most of the time I take advantage of this opportunity. It gives me a chance to try a few more items for less even though $15 is not much by Sephora standards.
I ended up buying a new foundation to try and two lip products.
I`m was still on the lookout for the holy grail foundation. After doing some research, I ended up on the decision to get Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation. This foundation is $40. I bought it in the shade 6.5. Shades ending in .0 have yellow undertones and those ending in .5 have more pink undertones. I was surprised that I got matched to a shade with .5 ending because I have olive yellow undertones. But the SA said that it matches my neck the best. And I must say I agree with her. I find that this is the best color match I`ve had in a long time with any foundation. Even my niece says it gives my face a brighter complexion. I`ve also heard a girl who also has yellow undertones but didn`t find a match with this exact foundation until she also tried a shade for pink undertones. So if you love this foundation but haven`t found the perfect match you might wanna give the opposite spectrum a try, you may never know what you end up with.
Some of the reasons why I wanted to try this was because I heard it was light weight, looks like skin and doesn`t look cakey. I must agree that it is light weight. I don`t even feel it on my skin. It doesn`t look cakey either, well as long as you don`t over do it as with any foundation. And it does look like your skin but more evened out. Freckles still show through which I don`t mind cause I knew that this wasn`t going to be a full coverage foundation and I was just looking for a foundation that evens out my skin. It doesn`t empahasize dry areas of my skin but I always moisturize before hand. My favorite way to apply this foundation is with my beauty blender. So far I`m really liking this foundation and will continue to buy it until I stumble on a better one.
So to be able to use my $15 gift card I had to buy some more stuff to meet the $50 mark. I ended up getting two lip products. One being the Smith`s Rosebud Salve. This retails for $6 for 22 grams. Comes in a tin packaging. It`s cruelty free and gluten free.
The other one is the Jack Black Intense Therapy lip balm in natural mint with SPF 25. This retails for $7.50 for 7 grams and comes in a squeeze tube.
I chose these two lip balms because I was out of the one I was currently using and was in need of a new one. And what better way to try some new products right and I heard rave reviews in these two items.
So far I`ve been using them for a few weeks and I must say, I`m really liking them. They`re keeping my lips moisturized and my lips are no longer peeling. I`ve been using the rosebud salve longer than the Jack Black lip balm but I find that the Jack Black does a better job at moisturizing but not by a huge difference compared between the two. So if I were to repurchase I would get the rosebud salve again because you get more bang for your buck and it works just as good. You just got to be diligent about applying it.
And since it was during December when I ordered, I was able to snatch a Sephora party bag with some deluxe samples to try with any $25 purchase. There were 3 different bags to choose from and I had wanted the one with the urban decay spray but it was already out of stock, so I ended up with the Mistletoe one.
In it it had samples of two perfumes, a Buxom Vanity Lash mascara, Fresh Joy Conditioning eye makeup remover, Burberry Fresh Glow luminous base, Benefit They`re Real push up liner, Clarins Lift Affine Visage Serum, and a Cover FX mattifying primer. These samples came in a cute black pouch that can be used as a makeup bag.
Along with these samples, I was also able to pick three samples to try but I never get the ones I ask for. Instead they gave me a perfume sample from MK, First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream sample and a sample from Living Proof.
And then I used 100 of my points to get the Laura Mercier Primer.
Wow! That`s a lot of samples to try and I still have some from my previous purchases from them. That`s what I like about Sephora but I also wish they have the samples I request. I seem to never get the ones I request even though it says in stock on their site.
I was able to save a lot of money on this haul along with some goodies to try. One being from the $15 gift card from Sephora and also the gift card from the weekly contests from Luuux! And this makes me a very happy shopper.
Have anyone else taken advantage of this deal?
And I can`t wait again for this deal cause I love receiving samples to try.
