Our Thanksgiving

I think we can all agree that Thanksgiving food is delicious. Every year we alternate families. That can be one of the difficult things... and it is too rough trying to manage making it to two houses. This year it was my husband`s side of the family that we visited. Something that was new, though, was that on top of it being my inlaws, my mother-in-law invited her partner`s family... so her (sort-of) in-laws were there too. It was quite a large crowd, but everyone got along. It was our first time meeting some of that side.

Typically, what we do to make it easier on the person hosting, is bring a dish. This way, by the time everyone arrives, several dishes are there and it takes a good chunk of the burden off of the person hosting and cooking the turkey. Our dish was the green bean casserole. We also brought pumpkin pie because no one else said they`d be bringing that and, well, it just isn`t Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie... let`s be honest.

We live close to my mother in law so we got there early in the morning to beat the rush of all the cars. I don`t like to be the last one to arrive. My mother in law had breakfast put out for everyone. As you can see in the first photo, she had two different kinds of cinnamon rolls (orange glazed and caramel glazed) and different kinds of fruits. Later in the afternoon she started to put out little snacks. This was things like crackers, meats, and cheeses. This can be seen in the second photo.

The last photo was my plate of food. It isn`t the greatest quality picture because by this point in time my phone was in another room with silicone packets surrounding it to draw out moisture... I had dropped it in the toilet... yeah... I definitely did that. UGH.. Thankfully, my Otterbox phone case is AMAZING and saved it. It hardly got wet at all because of it. It is 100% okay at this point, but the photo was taken with my husbands cellphone, which doesn`t have quite the same quality. On my plate I have some corn, green bean casserole, a roll, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, turkey with gravy, stuffing, jelly cranberry sauce.

All around we had a fun day with good food (except the phone in the toilet thing sucked). The day ended with us going out and roasting marshmallows around a firepit outside. It was nice! NOW ON TO CHRISTMAS!!!!
