Today I saw the western movie Django Unchained that stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson. This movie by Quentin Tarantino is nominated for 5 academy awards: best picture, best supporting actor (Christoph Waltz), best original screenplay, cinematography and sound editing.
Back in 1958, 5 male slaves are being transported across Texas by the Speck brothers when they encounter Dr. King Schultz, a bounty hunter. After he asks the slaves if any of them knew the Brittle brothers, one of the men in the group says he knows them, Django, and Dr. Schultz frees him and kills the Speck brothers.
Dr. Schultz tells Django he despises slavery and that he will free him after they kill and get the reward for the Brittle brothers. When they find and kill the Brittle brothers, Django confesses he is married and that his wife was sold in Mississipi and Dr. Schultz tells Django he will help him to find her.
This was a very long and violent movie. I find it hard to believe that things were like this like 60 years ago that people will just judge and sell others just for their skin color
Well, its clearly a Quentin Tarantinos movie, which is good for me since I love Kill Bill 1 and 2 and Pulp Fiction. This movie has some things that remind me of those movies, like a comic scene all of a sudden or music that has nothing to do with the scene lol
I give this movie a 7,5 out of 10 (7,5/10) and if it earns the academy award for best picture and best supporting actor, I think its well earned.
