Today I saw the thriller movie Argo. It stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman. This movie is based on a true story and it was produced by Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Grant Heslov. Argo was nominated for 7 Academy Awards: best picture, best actor in a supporting role (Alan Arkin), best adapted screenplay, film editing, best sound editing, best sound mixing and best original score.
On the 4th November 1979 militants attack the U.S. embassy in Tehran because the U.S.A. is sheltering their former leader which was an awful man. The embassy staff, more than 50 people, are taken as hostages but 6 manage to escape and hide in the Canadas ambassador home. However, the militants dont give up on finding them.
The CIA explores options so they can bring those 6 people back to the US without them being found by the militants. Tony Mendez, a CIA agent, has an idea: to create a fake movie, who is supposed to be shot in Iran, so that the 6 people can escape has Canadian filmmakers.
This movie is so well made, I mean, with all those details, because this movie is supposed to be in 1979. I think they thought of everything except for the fact that Tony Mendez, played by Ben Affleck, is supposed to be part Mexican. Ben Affleck looks really different in this movie, I almost didnt recognize him.
I give this movie a 7 out of 10 (7/10).
