One kind of pastry/cake i really like is what is called mille-feuille, which is a cake with French origin and its made with puff pastry and cream inside. I really enjoy it and using this kind of dough in birthday cakes is also a great choices but its a kind of cake that even though is very common here, i don`t get it much, but i saw this at an awesome bakery close to me that i go once in a while and i just i had to get it and try it.
The common ones around here are usually with coffee flavor but this one was with chocolate and orange flavor. It had dark chocolate cake, then puff pastry, then a cream that i don`t really know the name that had some orange flavor and then more puff pastry and more cream.
It was then completed with an orange slice covered in chocolate =D
This tasted different then what i expected because the flavors were much stronger then i thought they would be, so it really had a strong orange flavor but it contrasted well with the chocolate in it. The puff pastry was very good and fresh, which is not always the case with these cakes.
The orange slice with chocolate was a great touch and it tasted awesome!
I would recommend this if you like the strong orange flavor and don`t want something that is very sweet.
