Well I just baked this cake a few hours ago and I`m quite please with the results even though its cracked.
If you would like to have a go at cooking this cake here is the recipe:
You will need:
225g Unsalted Butter, Softened,
225g Caster Sugar,
4 eggs, beaten,
225g self-raising flour,
The Zest of 1 orange,
1/2 tsp baking powder,
Tinned Strawberries (Can be fresh but I used tinned)
Cooking chocolate (White, milk or dark)
1 pot Double Cream,
4 tbsp icing sugar.
Preheat oven to 190c grease and line a 20cm round cake tin.
Beat the butter and caster sugar till fluffy then add the eggs gradually, mixing after each addition. Add 1 tbsp of flour to prevent curdling and mix slightly. Mix in the orange zest, then fold in the rest of the flour and baking powder until nice and soft. spread the mixture in the tin and place in the center of the oven until golden brown and a skewer can be inserted with no mixture stuck on. Once baked place on a cooling wire and when cool cut the cake (If you used tinned strawberries you can sprinkle on some of the syrup. Put the double cream and icing sugar in a mixing bowl and mix till fluffy, spread it on one half of the cake then add a few strawberries. Then place the other half on top and melt the cooking chocolate and spread it on top and add the rest of the strawberries anyway you want (Feel free to add anything else). Put in the fridge to cool.
Voila it`s finished, when cooled it can be eaten.
Pictures are mine.
